Central and West Fife Show, 6th June 2009

Central and West Fife Show was the first public event that the Association attended. Carol had done a huge amount of work, producing materials for our display boards and a pretty impressive leaflet for distribution to folk. Both she and Karen brought along plants that we were able to give away as freebies, which caught folk's interest.

We were set up in plenty time despite the weather, which was cold, wet and windy. The gazebo was great - without it we would have been soaked, but we were anxious that it would blow away in the gusty wind. We had a contingency plan - when the wind blew hard, we each rushed to a corner and held on like mad!

Carol, helped set up, then Karen, Dan and I took the first shift; we were joined by Clare, Ali and Linz, and by Andrew and Janis. There was a bit of interest and we had some nice chats with folk - how effective it is as a recruiting tool remains to be seen. It was so cold and miserable that folk just wanted to go home, I think.

We handed out leaflets - including some to Paterson's Buildings at South Alloa and we now have a reciprocal link to their website from ours. Our leaflets are available there, so that might prove useful.

We packed up about 2pm and headed off to warm up, hoping for better weather at Doune and Dunblane on 4th July.

Thanks to all those members who gave up their time to man the stand.
