Bracken Control – A Guide to Best Practice
This leaflet is intended for farmers, foresters and moorland managers who want to know more about bracken control and want to prepare a bracken management plan. It is an updated version of a booklet originally produced by the Southern Uplands Partnership, which has proved useful to land managers throughout Scotland.
Biodiversity
A small change to looking after land can make all the difference to biodiversity. A revised series of leaflets aimed at farmers, crofters. The leaflets in the series are: Biodiversity on croftland and common grazing; Biodiversity on lowland arable farms; Biodiversity and intensive cropping; Biodiversity on hill and upland farms.

Created by man and maintained by farming, grasslands form an important part of our natural heritage providing a vital habitat for birds, butterflies, animals and plants.

Shooting
- Grouse shooting – The grouse shooting season runs from 12 August to 10 December.
- Deer management can take place during many months of the year but the most sensitive time is the stag stalking season (from 1 July to 20 October, but with most stalking taking place from August onwards).

This leaflet is specifically for farmers in Scotland who own, tenant or manage land that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and/or a Natura site (a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) or Special Protection Area (SPA)).
