As winter approaches, many farms will be starting to bring livestock buildings back into use that may have been unoccupied for several months and need to carry out repairs on problems that have gone unnoticed. Work on roofs, whether replacing fragile sheets or cleaning gutters is inherently dangerous and each year farmers and workers are killed because they didn’t recognise the danger and take suitable precautions. If you have to carry out repair work at height then take some time to think about how you can prevent a tragedy.

October 24th 2010 visit to Rita Adams smallholding at Path Of Condie. Rita has Longhorn cattle, Soay sheep, Horses as well as a working sheep dog. She is registered organic permanent pasture as well as a small woodland.

November 17th Talk from Claire at Barony Handcrafted Soaps and product stall. Open to non-members.

Wednesday 17th November 2010 7.30 pm at Mayfield Centre, St Ninians, Stirling, FK7 ODB.

Novembers social meeting offers the ideal opportunity to purchase some Xmas gifts. Clarie from Barony Handcrafted Soaps will give a talk on setting up her own small business, and the soap making process. There will be a range of products on sale.

Also available will be the 2011 CSSA calendar, priced at £6. it is excellent value, so please come along and support the Association by buying one.

Tea and coffee will be available, and any donations of biscuits or cakes will be gratefully received. Come along for a blether. Look forward to seeing you.
